I was referred to Mr Berber after three years of increasing knee pain and a growing difficulty in walking. My previous life style was severely affected and, although I had tried various exercises and regular gym sessions, I was not winning and It was a great comfort and relief to meet Mr Berber and hear his conformation that I was a candidate for knee replacement. He was very easy to talk to, and made me feel I was in safe hands. We discussed whether I was a suitable candidate for a day case and we both agreed that I was. I had the advantage of having a responsible adult (my husband) at home to take care of me after the surgery. On the day of the procedure, I arrived at the hospital early morning and I knew from the moment I arrived I was in the hands of a dream team. I was awake during the operation and by lunch time I was back on the ward. Once the initial pain was under control and I was able to negotiate the stairs on crutches, Mr Berber deemed me fit to come home. I was discharged with an ample supply of medication, an ice pack and a promise of next day phone check ups from the nurse and the anaesthetist. At my follow-up appointment Mr Berber showed me an X-ray of my knee replacement and answered all my questions. Mr Berber and his team are amazing and I can’t thank them enough.

Went knowing i needed a total hip replacement at the age of 45. Mr Berber was Very friendly and knowledgeable. Instantly made me feel at ease. Explained everything very well. Was very reassuring on the day of the surgery. What he's done for me is literally life changing in my case. When I need the other side done there is only one person who I want to do it.

I have had the experience of being a patient of Mr Berber for two separate knee replacements which has been extremely positive. Not only can I comment on his excellence as a joint replacement surgeon, which my own experience can testify to but also he is his very approachable makes you feel comfortable and positively encourages questions or queries. He is always polite and respectful and smiles a lot. He is realistic in what he explains can be achieved. I do not hesitate in highly recommending him to anyone in need of joint surgery.

I was seen by Mr Berber as an NHS patient at The Spire Hospital Nottingham. Mr Berber has consistently been approachable, informative, encouraging and caring, from the first time I met him, all the way through my follow-up consultations, my admission to hospital, my full hip replacement surgery and to my post-operative appointment. Mr Berber is a very thoughtful and a very understanding man, he has time to talk to you and to explain the whole procedure and, just as importantly, he listens to your questions and concerns' I had been in constant pain, unable to sit for any length of time, unable to sleep , unable to get in and out of the car without assistance, any long journey was totally out of the question, and very poor mobility for over a year before I could have my operation this was mainly due to the fact that I already had a hip fracture and this had to heal before I could have a new hip. Since having surgery I have had no pain at all and I am so very grateful to Mr Berber as I now have full mobility and no pain , words cannot describe how my life has changed in this short time. Just before this section, in which you ask to to give my views, it asks for me to make 'constructive suggestions on how they (Mr Berber) could improve'. There are no suggestions I could make because Mr Berber, his colleagues and staff, are without doubt, in my opinion, absolutely excellent! I truly am very grateful Mr Berber. Thankyou.

I first had the pleasure of meeting Mr Berber at the City Hospital Nottingham. He saw me on a few occasions with the final result of him carrying out a total knee replacement. At every appointment he has been the most thoughtful and understanding consultant I have ever had the fortune to meet. He put me at ease straight away and explained everything in a way that I understood and not in the condescending manner that other consultants do. I cannot thank Mr Berber enough. It is early days for me, just two weeks after surgery in fact. However the incision on my knee is incredible to say what work was carried out. I expected it to be quite unsightly, not the immaculate finish that I have been given. I know he was hesitant at me having a total knee replacement as I am only 48, but he understood that I wanted quality of life now with my children, not when I'm in my 80s and not very active. I really owe him so much, he has given me a new lease on life to enjoy with my children. A million thank you's Mr Berber.
